When the explorer is displayed to allow the user to select an object, double-clicking acts as a shortcut that both selects the object, and closes the window (as if teh user clicked OK.)  This behavior exists always, even in the cases when the Explore feature was triggered, which does not require the user to make a selection.  Double-clicking should just do nothing in this case.
