Main Content

You may want to change the default numbering format used by a specific class.
For example, for relays to use a different numbering format to other components:

  1. Go to the Catalogue Tools tab and select Open catalogue class
  2. Find the desired component class (e.g. Relay) and click OK
Note: if you don’t find the class you’re looking for (e.g. Cable), go to the Show tab, select Class List and a more comprehensive list will be displayed
  3. If you’d like to change the Root value of the class, you can do it here. If not, proceed to the next step
  4. Select the heading (e.g. Relay)
  5. Go to the Home tab and select Set Numbering Format
  6. Go to the Create/Add tab, select Create numbering format and give it a name (e.g. Numbering format for Relays)
  7. Expand the properties of the new numbering format and customize it as desired. The Customizing numbering tutorial should help you with this. (Also, see tip below).
  8. Once you’re done customizing your new numbering format, select the heading of the numbering format and click OK to apply it to that specific class
  9. Finally, to apply this new numbering format to all existing relays in your project, run Component Renumbering from the Renumbering Process tab.

Tip: If the numbering format you’re trying to create is similar to an existing one, look at the settings of the existing numbering format for reference. To view all numbering formats and their settings:

  1. Select SkyCAD in the tree view
  2. Under the Show tab, select Environments
  3. Select Standard Environment
  4. Under the Show tab, select Numbering Formats
  5. Expand the properties of the numbering format you’re interested in
